Design of a Broadband Cavity Baffle Bender Transducer

As low-frequency and broadband acoustic emission capability is beneficial to the detection range communication speed of small scale autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), this type transducer required, especially in cases complex environments. A bender with cavity baffle that suits AUV proposed. Rather than additional benders, a passive baffle, which would be capable providing mutual radiation fluid mode, introduced single bender. The bending resonant frequency reduced by between extends lower limit available band transducer, liquid behind former expands higher limit, then fills role radiating emissions through multimode coupling. finite element method used analyze performance under different conditions. Then, prototype developed according optimized parameters simulation. were measured an anechoic pool. water itself 3 kHz, −3dB bandwidth 560 Hz. test results show scheme can improve from Hz 1000 Hz, fundamentally realizes expectations design.
